从世预赛失望而归，费南多即将迎来新的挑战。接下来的时间里，申花将面临中超、足协杯和亚冠三线作战的严峻考验，作为夏季转会窗口的重要引援，费南多的状态对球队的成绩，起着十分重要的作用。在间歇期前的几场比赛中，“小摩托”的状态有所恢复，突破和射门的感觉，比刚刚来到申花时好不少，这也是他能获得国足主帅伊万科维奇征召的重要原因。
另一个值得关注的问题是，在伊万的战术体系中没有获得太多破门机会的费南多，在斯卢茨基手下能否“焕发新生”？虽然阵容配置和人员水平不同，但若是申花主帅能够在接下去的比赛中帮助费南多找回进球感觉，对国足而言可能也有些借鉴作用，毕竟一个能够攻城拔寨的前锋，是目前中国男足十分需要的。
